Magic’s Paolo Banchero reveals what went wrong in frustrating loss to 76ers
The Orlando Magic will have to go through a needle hole to qualify for the playoffs after they lost to the Philadelphia 76ers, 109-97, in the Play-In Tournament at Xfinity Mobile Arena on Wednesday.
With the defeat, the Magic will face the Charlotte Hornets in a do-or-die affair for the last spot in the playoffs in the Eastern Conference.
Paolo Banchero struggled from the field, shooting just 7-of-22 for 18 points. He missed all of his five attempts from three-point range.
After the game, he admitted that he was a bit hesitant in the game, adding that he should be quicker with his decision-making on offense.
“I think I had some looks at the start of the second half that I didn’t shoot. When you do that, I think the basketball gods aren’t gonna reward you. I had another couple of good shots that felt good, but they didn’t go in. Just a frustrating night for sure for me,” said Banchero.

Orlando and Philadelphia were in a tight battle until the latter surged in the fourth quarter, led by Tyrese Maxey, to secure the victory. The Magic were outscored in the final frame, 30-23.
But despite the loss, Banchero, who also had five rebounds, four assists, and a game-high six turnovers, remained even-keeled ahead of their knockout showdown with the Hornets.
“You gotta come in with a clear mind, go do what you gotta do to win the game,” said Banchero.
“You gotta be able to respond in a way that results in a win.”
The Magic lost to their season series with the Hornets, 3-1.
