LIV Golf Andalucia betting tips: Selections and picks for Valderrama weekend

The LIV Golf circuit moves to Andalucia this week where home hero Jon Rahm is firm favourite to claim his third success of the season.

The Spaniard was a disappointing 16th in last week’s tournament in South Korea and Joaquin Niemann, who claimed the prize in that event, will be hoping to take advantage of any potential slump.

The tournament takes place at Valderrama where accuracy is a key ingredient for success and another home hopeful, Sergio Garcia, will be looking for a fourth course triumph.

LIV Andalucia Tips

  • Talor Gooch each-way @ 22/1
  • Tyrrell Hatton each-way @ 16/1
  • Sergio Garcia each-way @ 25/1

Defending champion has found his groove

Defending LIV Andalucia champion Talor Gooch had a difficult start to the LIV season with just one top-10 finish in the opening 10 events.

However, things came together last week in South Korea, even though he will have been disappointed to have fallen to Niemann in a play-off.

He will still be able to reflect on a satisfying week and it could be the catalyst for some improved fortunes, especially as his second-round 63 was the best 18 holes of the week.

This week’s visit to Valderrama could have come at exactly the right time as he was the winner the first time LIV Golf visited the iconic track in 2023 and he held off Rahm to triumph last year.

Baby joy can inspire Hatton

Tyrrell Hatton missed last week’s trip to Korea after his wife gave birth to the couple’s first child, and there looks a strong chance that he will be back with a bang.

Hatton missed the cut last time out at the US PGA Championship but that came after a number of good recent performances, including third spot at the Masters where only Rory McIlroy and world number one Scottie Scheffler performed better.

The Englishman has Valderrama form too after he was third in the 2024 edition and he could relish the opportunity to play with greater freedom this week after enjoying such a landmark occasion.

Garcia can shine at one of his favourite tracks

Sergio Garcia was one of two players who got the better of Hatton on that visit to Valderrama two years ago and it is always worth carefully considering him at this venue as his record is so good.

He came through a play-off with Anirban Lahiri on that occasion, which was the first of his two LIV triumphs, and his LIV Andalucia form figures of 10-1-3-1-1-7 have to inspire confidence that he can come out on top in this one.

The former Masters champion allowed a promising situation to slip when he fell to 29th in Korea after a good start, but his form cannot be characterised as poor as he was second in LIV Golf’s previous get-together in Virginia.

It may not be long before everything comes together and the odds look good that he will produce another memorable performance at one of his favourite venues.
