LeBron James wants Russell Westbrook Hall of Fame induction after ‘helluva career’

After 18 years in the NBA, Russell Westbrook called it a career after posting a video on social media announcing his retirement. After numerous players shared their takes on Westbrook’s decision, LeBron James made a Hall of Fame declaration in his post about the former superstar guard.

James was one of thousands of individuals who commented on Westbrook’s Instagram video on Wednesday. The 23-year veteran congratulated Westbrook on his illustrious career and stated that the Hall of Fame is the next stop for him.

“HELLUVA CAREER BRODIE!!” James exclaimed. “HOF next!!”

Russell Westbrook ends his career at 37 years old. He will mostly be remembered for his 11 years with the Oklahoma City Thunder. The one-time MVP played for numerous clubs near the end of his career, including the Houston Rockets, Washington Wizards, Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers, Denver Nuggets, and Sacramento Kings.

He will go down as one of the all-time greats in NBA history. Westbrook had four total years of averaging a triple-double (2016, 2017, 2018, 2020). On top of his one MVP (2016), Westbrook was also a nine-time All-Star, named to the All-NBA Third Team once, named to the All-NBA Second Team five times, named to the All-NBA First Team twice, and is a two-time scoring champion.

The former superstar guard played 1,301 games, starting in 1,133 of them. He ends his career averaging 20.9 points, 6.9 rebounds, 8.0 assists, and 1.6 steals per contest while shooting 43.8% from the floor and hitting 30.8% of his three-point attempts.

What’s next for Russell Westbrook is currently unknown. His first chance at getting into the Hall of Fame won’t be until 2030 when he finally becomes eligible.
