Lamar Jackson reveals stance on long-term outlook with Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens are ready to make some noise during the 2026 NFL season. Baltimore finished the 2025 season 8-9, giving them their first losing season since 2021. The future will look a lot brighter for the Ravens if they can manage to lock up their most important player on a new contract.

Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson gave a cryptic answer when asked about his future in Baltimore on Wednesday.

Jackson declared that he wants to keep contract discussions “private” per The Athletic’s Jeff Zrebiec. But Jackson did say that he does envision himself being in Baltimore for the long term.

That must be great for Ravens fans to hear after Lamar was mysteriously absent from OTAs on Tuesday.

The Ravens are not under a lot of pressure to get an answer out of Jackson right away. He is under contract through the 2027 season and has a reasonable $34.39 million cap hit in 2026. However, that figure jumps to $84.34 million in 2027 with no way to reduce the number without an extension.

The 29-year-old quarterback took a step back in 2025 after missing four games with multiple injuries. He logged 2,549 passing yards with 21 touchdowns and seven interceptions during the regular season. It was his worst season since 2022.

It is too early to tell if Lamar will spend the rest of his career in Baltimore. But he sounds pleased with the team’s new coaching staff, calling it “a breath of fresh air” on Wednesday.

Perhaps Jackson wants to put together an impressive 2026 season to gain more leverage before going back to the negotiating table.

Either way, Ravens fans should be excited to see their franchise quarterback back in action later this fall.
