Lakers’ Bronny, LeBron James make NBA history with shared playoff playing time

The father-son duo of LeBron James and Bronny James made incredible NBA history following their on-court appearance together in the Los Angeles Lakers’ clash with the Houston Rockets in Game 1 of the first-round series on Saturday night.

LeBron and Bronny have been making records with their on-court presences throughout the last two seasons. Last year saw them make history by being the first father-son duo to play together. This season has seen them deliver their first assists to one another during several games.

The next thing they had to check off their list was being on the court together for a postseason game. That reality came to fruition when Bronny entered the contest in the early minutes of the second quarter, getting four minutes of action alongside LeBron.

How LeBron James, Lakers played against Rockets

LeBron and Bronny James got to have fun making history as the Lakers went on to take down the Rockets 107-98 in Game 1.

Los Angeles massively benefitted from Houston not having Kevin Durant due to injury. As a result, the Rockets’ offense was out of rhythm as it sorely missed its leading scorer and key playmaker.

Shot selection and ball movement made the difference in this matchup. The Lakers prevailed in both categories as they shot 61% from the field and created 29 assists. It wasn’t the same for the Rockets as they only made 38% of their total shots and dished out 24 assists.

Five players scored in double-digits for Los Angeles in the win, including LeBron. He finished with a stat line of 19 points, 13 assists, eight rebounds, two steals, and one block. He shot 9-of-15 from the field, including 1-of-2 from beyond the arc. Luke Kennard led the team in scoring with 27 points and four rebounds, Deandre Ayton came next with 19 points and 11 rebounds, Marcus Smart had 15 points and eight assists, while Rui Hachimura provided 14 points and three steals.

The Lakers will look to take a 2-0 series lead when they host the Rockets in Game 2. The game is set to take place on April 21 at 10:30 p.m. ET.
