Knicks’ OG Anunoby updates fans on hamstring recovery after Game 3 win
With a 121-108 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals on Saturday night at Rocket Arena, the New York Knicks are now just one triumph away from reaching their first NBA Finals since 1999.
New York benefited greatly from a resurgent effort by OG Anunoby, whose latest showing was his finest since returning from a right hamstring strain suffered during Game 2 of the conference semifinals.
Anunoby finished with 21 points, seven rebounds, and four assists while shooting 3-for-4 from beyond the arc as the Knicks extended their playoff winning streak to 10 games. After missing the final two games of the previous series because of the injury, he admitted he has steadily regained confidence physically.
“Each day I started feeling better and better,” Anunoby said after the win. “We have a great medical staff. Getting stronger each day. Great team, great coaches. It’s been very collaborative.”

The forward had shown flashes in the first two games against Cleveland, including six overtime points in Game 1 and an efficient 5-for-8 shooting performance in Game 2. But Game 3 was the first time he resembled the player who excelled earlier in the postseason before the hamstring setback.
Before the injury, Anunoby averaged 21.4 points, 7.5 rebounds, 1.9 steals, and 1.1 blocks per game in the playoffs while shooting 53.8 percent from three-point range on 4.9 attempts per game. New York also outscored opponents by 20 points per 100 possessions with him on the court.
The Knicks balanced attack overwhelmed the Cavaliers again in Game 3. Jalen Brunson scored 30 points, Mikal Bridges added 22 on 11-of-15 shooting, and Karl-Anthony Towns contributed 13 points, eight rebounds, seven assists, and three steals. New York never trailed and improved to five straight road playoff wins by at least 10 points, tying an NBA record.
Now holding a 3-0 series lead, the Knicks will attempt to complete the sweep Monday night and clinch their first Finals berth in 27 years.
