Knicks’ Mikal Bridges gets props from Danny Green for ‘little things’ vs. Cavs
On Monday night, the New York Knicks will look to punch their ticket to the NBA Finals when they hit the floor for Game 4 against the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Knicks have won ten straight playoff games, currently up 3-0 on a Cavs team that all but gave up down the stretch of Game 3 on Saturday.
One player who’s done great work at both ends of the floor for the Knicks during their hot streak has been Mikal Bridges, who overcame a brutal start to the playoffs to now look like the elite two-way player New York thought it was getting from the Brooklyn Nets.
Recently, Bridges got some lofty praise from three-time NBA champion Danny Green.
“He’s getting into the paint, driving, kicking, finding guys, relocating, working the dunker area… him doing these little things and playing hard has made him so effective and efficient,” said Green, per NBA on ESPN on X, formerly Twitter.
It may seem hard to believe now, but Bridges at one point looked borderline unplayable for the Knicks in this postseason run, clanking a potential game-winner in Game 2 against the Atlanta Hawks in the first round and following that up with a zero-point effort in Game 3 of that series.
However, since then, Bridges has been on a torrid stretch and has played a huge role in helping the Knicks look like a legit threat to win their first title in 53 years.
Typically, closeout games are the toughest ones to get, but that hasn’t been the case for the Knicks, who have won their two closeout games this postseason by a combined 81 points.
They’ll look to continue that dominance on Monday night against the Cavs.
