Knicks have right mentality going into Game 4 vs. Hawks
The New York Knicks suffered a heartbreaking Game 3 loss to the Atlanta Hawks on Thursday night. New York now finds itself down 2-1 in the series, and the team’s matchup against Atlanta is making some sectors of the fanbase sweat. The Knicks have one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference, as players like Miles McBride know, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t aware of the urgency of a series deficit, according to Ian Begley via X, formerly Twitter.
“I would say we’re playing for our lives. It is a 7-game series, and it’s the first to four, but it’s ticking away; we don’t want to leave it up to chance. We don’t want to say we wish we could have or we wish we would have done this different,” McBride said. “We want to take every opportunity, take every chance we can, and take advantage of it. And get together as a team and figure it out.”
The Knicks rallied back from a massive deficit in Game 3, and after Jalen Brunson scored a clutch bucket in the last minute, it looked like they might escape with a victory. However, after allowing a go-ahead basket, a poor last possession ended with a Brunson turnover, and the comeback bid was over.
It’ll be a quick turnaround for the Knicks to face a must-win Game 4. The Knicks can take some solace in that they’ve lost Games 2 and 3 by a combined two points, but another sloppy performance in Game 4 against the Hawks could change that mindset completely.
