Kevin Durant Warriors’ championship record is no more after Knicks domination

The New York Knicks had a dominant postseason run, and they were able to cap it off with an NBA championship, defeating the San Antonio Spurs in five games. Before they could reach the Finals, they completely dominated their opponents in the Eastern Conference.

The 2016-2017 Golden State Warriors once had the best postseason point differential in NBA history, but now that has gone to the Knicks, according to Tomer Azarly of ClutchPoints.

“The 2025-26 New York Knicks lost THREE playoff games by a combined SIX points. They finish the postseason 16-3 with a +283 point differential, the best differential in NBA postseason history,” Azarly wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

Everyone remembers how dominant that Warriors team was that season, with Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green, and nobody could stop them.

The Knicks had most of their point differential come from their closeout games against the Atlanta Hawks, Philadelphia 76ers and Cleveland Cavaliers. What made it even better for the Knicks is that their fans traveled wherever they went, making it feel like Madison Square Garden, or close to it, when they went on the road.

Whey were actually at home, the crowd was rocking, especially in Game 4 of the NBA Finals, where they came back from 29 points.

“It feels cool. Everyone was pretty excited. I am excited too,” Anunoby said after Game 4. “It’s pretty cool. But that’s what we are, a team, like a brotherhood. We have each other’s backs. That’s just how it goes sometimes, and I mean we would all do the same for each other.”

There’s no doubt that this team has been through a lot with each other over the years, and they were finally able to bear the fruits of their labor.
