Kevin Durant burner allegations resurface after Rockets Game 3 collapse vs. Lakers (add reax)

The Houston Rockets are coming to grips with falling apart to the Los Angeles Lakers in Game 3 of the Western Conference first round on Friday. Kevin Durant, who was out with an ankle injury, looked on from the sidelines.

After the loss, old claims materialized that Durant had a burner X, formerly Twitter, account where he talked smack about the Rockets, per Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints. Based on how things panned out for the Rockets, Durant’s alleged private critiques were legitimized.

A social media user on X, formerly Twitter, said that Durant’s phone had to be blowing up.

“KD’s phone talking to him right now like the green goblin mask” @sreekyshooter said.

In February, claims surfaced that Durant had a burner account and was trashing his teammates. Screenshots from a now-private account named @gethigher77 surfaced, showing criticisms of current and former Houston players. But no evidence has proved that the account belonged to Durant.

After the All-Star break, Durant was asked about the allegations, and he kept the focus on the season.

“I know you’ve got to ask these questions, but I’m not here to get into Twitter nonsense,” Durant said at the time. “I’m just here to focus on the season and keep but pushing. But I get you have to ask those questions. My teammates know what it is, we’ve been locked in the whole season. We’ve enjoyed our break, had a great practice today, and looking forward to the road trip.”

Game 4 is set for Sunday at 9:30 pm EST in Houston. If Houston wins, Game 5 will be in Los Angeles on Wednesday, April 29.
