Keisean Nixon is finally taking Packers’ heated CB competition into his own hands

The Green Bay Packers have plenty of talent in the secondary, as the team has enough cornerbacks that there is a position battle going on in training camp. On Monday, Keisean Nixon seemed to have finally gained a big advantage with a strong practice.

Reports indicate that Monday’s practice was easily Nixon’s best performance throughout training camp so far, according to Kyle Malzhan of WFRV Local 5 in Green Bay. The 29-year-old cornerback appears to be in line to win one of the starting jobs before Week 1 of the regular season.

“This is by far Keisean Nixon’s best training camp practice of the summer,” Malzhan reported.

It’s said that Nixon picked off quarterback Jordan Love to end a two-minute drill, per Andy Herman of Packer Report. In fact, the defense got the better of the offense through the entirety of the drill. Nixon’s interception was the icing on the cake of what was a strong showing from the defensive unit.

“Love rolls out, heavy pressure. Picked by Keisean to end the drive,” Herman reported. “What a bounce-back day for Keisean Nixon so far.”

Other cornerbacks in the mix for playing time on the outside include Carrington Valentine, Benjamin St-Juste, and 2026 rookie Brandon Cisse. Meanwhile, Javon Bullard and Kamal Hadden are competing for the nickelback position in the Packers’ defense.

Keisean Nixon is entering his eighth season in the NFL, and his fifth in Green Bay. He’s been a major contributor for the Packers throughout his tenure, as he’s never missed a single contest in his first four years with the club. He finished last season with 72 combined tackles (58 solo), one interception, 17 pass deflections, and one fumble recovery. His efforts earned him the first Pro Bowl nod in his career.
