Karl-Anthony Towns gets real on ‘unreal feeling’ of bringing Knicks to NBA Finals

The New York Knicks have taken their game to the next level since Game 4 of their first-round matchup against the Atlanta Hawks, and they have since become the most unstoppable force in the NBA. On Monday night, the Knicks punched their ticket to the NBA Finals for the first time since 1999 on the back of their 10th consecutive victory — dominating a closeout game on the road once again to send the Cleveland Cavaliers home, 130-93.

The Knicks front office has assembled such a deep team, and they have managed their resources quite well. One of a few turning points for the Knicks behind their run to the NBA Finals has been their trade for Karl-Anthony Towns, with Towns elevating the ceiling of this team by being an incredible all-around center who can adjust his game to the team’s needs as the squad has seen all season long.

Towns was all smiles out of pure gratitude for the fact that not only is he going to the NBA Finals for the first time in his career, he is also playing for the Knicks — the team he was rooting for back when he was still a kid.

“It’s an honor to be able to do this back on the team that I grew up cheering for… You couldn’t have asked for a better feeling,” Towns told Lisa Salters during the Knicks’ coronation as the Eastern Conference champion.

This Knicks team and its fanbase are in a state of jubilation that the city has not known in nearly three decades. They are now four wins away from breaking their 53-year title drought, and they have a legitimate chance of doing so, especially as the Oklahoma City Thunder and San Antonio Spurs keep beating each other up.

Towns has a chance of vindicating both himself and the Knicks, as many have doubted their chances of winning a title plenty of times in the past.
