Judge warns Stefon Diggs’ alleged assault victim during cross-examination
As the first day of the Stefon Diggs trial with his alleged victim, his former chef Jamila Adams, on the witness stand concluded, the second day began with a continuation of her cross-examination, which prompted the judge to give her a warning.
Reports have surfaced that allege that Adams gave “another string of answers that were not responsive to the question asked.” This caused Judge Jeanmarie Carroll to call for a break before returning to send Adams a clear and direct message.
“You’re responsible for answering questions that are put to you,” Judge Carroll said to Adams. “If you don’t understand the question, you can say that. And I’m sure counsel will rephrase it. If you can’t hear a question, tell them that as well.
“But courtrooms function in, and especially trials unfold, in a question and answer format. This is not an opportunity for you to interject your own narrative and evade responding to questions the court deems appropriate. And if you continue to do so, your entire testimony may be stricken. Am I clear?” the judge continued.
Despite the warning, Adams still dodged a question about a $5.5 million settlement demand made by her lawyer. Pro Football Talk states that Adams was “again evasive, initially trying to cite the attorney-client privilege,” which they note doesn’t apply.
They even state it felt like “Diggs’ lawyer had Adams on the ropes.” The lawyer then ended the cross-examination, and Adams did complete a redirect and recross “without further incident, and her testimony was not stricken,” as PFT states.
This was the best-case scenario for Adams. Had her testimony been stricken, her case would’ve fallen apart. She’s not out of the woods yet, though, as the trial will continue.
Adams previously alleged that Diggs choked and slapped her in his home amid a salary dispute. She began working for him in July 2025 before leaving in December 2025 after the alleged incident. Now, Diggs is facing felony strangulation and misdemeanor assault and battery charges. Previously, he plead not guilty to the charges.
