How Ben Johnson’s family could save Caleb Williams from actually working too hard
The Chicago Bears are on the brink of starting a season in which the expectations will be enourmous. That is especially true for third-year QB Caleb Williams, who many are expecting to have a super season.
Certainly nobody knows this better than head coach Ben Johnson, who is starting his second season at the helm. Given the enormity of all this, Johnson is mentioning his family when describing his approach to ensure players like Williams don’t unnecessarily strain themselves, per Up & Adams.
Johnson says that if he and/or his other guys need more time with their families, they should immediately exit Halas Hall. He hopes that Williams does the same.
“I use my family,” Johnson said. “If they are calling for more family time, that tells me I need to get out of the building more, which means Caleb needs to come run a little bit less as well.”
Ben Johnson's family might be the only thing keeping he and Caleb Williams from living at Halas Hall

The Bears are currently in the midst of training camp. They are fresh off a season in which they won the NFC North before losing to the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC Divisional Round.
Williams put up exceptional numbers, including 3,942 passing yards and 27 passing touchdowns with a QB rating of 90.1. Since then, Williams’ popularity has only enhanced as he was recently featured on the cover of Madden 27.
With that comes added burden.
As a result, Williams has been working to get himself into pristine physical condition to live up to the hype. He recently dropped 10-15 pounds going through the rigors of training camp.
But it seems Johnson knows how to reel him in properly.
