Josh Hart reveals how wife Shannon, 3-year-old twins support him amid Knicks championship win
Josh Hart is sharing about his life off the court.
The New York Knicks won their first NBA championship in 53 years back in June, and while the success could have left an overwhelming feeling, Hart shared that his life at home with his family has kept him grounded.
“You’re getting pulled in so many different directions, it’s always good to have a good foundation — a sounding board to kind of always come back to,” Hart told Us on Thursday, August 20.
“And obviously, you know, they’re there to support you through all those moments and coach those, you know, appearances with you or work out with you, you know — those kind of things,” he continued, adding that his wife, Shannon Hart, was instrumental in his NBA debut with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2017. “So for me, it’s been a great time because obviously we travel so much during the year and, you know, game days are basically, ‘Walk through, take a nap and then get in the car and go.’”
He added, “So it’s been great to kind of, obviously, have that sounding board and support system — like I said — to always kind of ball back on and, you know, comfort [you].”
The New York Knicks star married Shannon (whom is his high school sweetheart) in 2021. They welcomed their sons, Haze and Hendrix in 2023.
Hart joined the Knicks in 2023 after being traded by the Portland Trail Blazers. Jalen Brunson, whom Hart was roommates with at Villanova, joined the team a year prior. The duo won a championship for Villanova in 2016. Brunson previously played for the Dallas Mavericks and the Knicks signed him to a $104 million deal in free agency.
After the Knicks won in Game 5 of the NBA Finals, Hart expressed his first reaction to becoming an NBA champion.
“It was a lot of emotions,” Hart says of hearing the final buzzer. “Obviously excitement. Kind of relief, honestly,” he says.
Now Hart and Brunson will be sharing insights about the championship win in a live taping of their “Roommates Show” podcast on Sept. 24 in New York City.
