Jamie Vardy has welcomed the idea of Leicester City fans being able to vote on a potential statue in his honour.

The 39-year-old is regarded as the club’s greatest player in their 142-year history thanks to his legendary spell in attack.

Vardy scored 200 goals in 500 appearances across all competitions at Leicester and was their Player of the Season on two occasions.

He was key to their historic 2015/16 Premier League title win at odds of 5000/1, and their 2020/21 FA Cup triumph.

Aside from being a clinical striker, Vardy won fans from Leicester and other teams with a variety of animated celebrations.

These include pretending to play the guitar with a corner flag against Liverpool, and flapping his arms like an eagle away at Crystal Palace.

Given his immense success at Leicester, Vardy could be honoured with a statue outside the King Power Stadium at some point in the future.

talkSPORT’s Darren Bent wanted to ask what his pose would be and if a can of Red Bull would make an appearance after he iconically drank one at half-time during a Premier League match.

“To be honest, there’s been quite a few celebrations over the years, it could be anything!” he said ahead of the launch of his new podcast, Jamie Vardy’s Having a Party.

“The Red Bull in hand probably would make a good little statue but for the celebration involved, there’s been that many that could be up there.

“You’d have to get a little campaign, get people coming in, voting themselves, and see what happens.”

Bent then said that Vardy’s eagle celebration against Palace is what sticks out most to him, and wanted to ask if he pre-plans them.

“It’s all instinct, it all depends on how the opposition’s fans have been,” Vardy said.

“If I’m getting stick, then I’m going to obviously give a bit back and that’s, nine times out of ten, where the celebration has come from.”

Vardy: Leicester can bounce straight back up

Leicester endured a dreadful 2025/26 season as they were relegated to League One, a year after dropping out of the Premier League.

The Foxes finished 23rd and five points off safety with only the crisis-hit Sheffield Wednesday, who had 18 points deducted, below them.

But Vardy, who spent the campaign at Italian side US Cremonese, is confident that Leicester will return to the Championship very soon.

“I was obviously devoed (devastated) with how the season finished. I’ve been watching as many games as I can while I’ve been in Italy.

“Gutted for them but I know deep down, as a Leicester fan now myself, that they can bounce back.

“I think a lot of things all culminated in what went wrong last year and I think it’s just about getting those things right, and definitely show that they can bounce straight back up.”
