Is Kevin Durant playing tonight? Rockets vs. Lakers 2026 NBA Playoffs Game 3 injury report
The Houston Rockets will attempt to save their season during Game 3 of their first-round series against the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday. After returning from a one-game absence during Game 2, Kevin Durant popped up on Houston’s injury report with a new designation ahead of Friday’s matchup.
Durant is questionable for Game 3 due to a left ankle sprain as the Rockets look to avoid falling down 0-3. He missed Game 1 of the series due to a right knee contusion.
Durant led the Rockets with 23 points on 7-for-12 shooting in 41 minutes during Tuesday’s 101-94 Game 2 loss. However, he shot 1-of-5 in the second half and finished with nine turnovers while facing constant double teams.
Kevin Durant injury status vs. Lakers

The Rockets will need Durant to be near his best if they hope to come back from a 0-2 deficit. Ime Udoka’s squad has continued to struggle offensively to start the postseason, failing to crack 100 points in Games 1 and 2. Houston ranks 13th in offensive rating (104.9) during the playoffs.
If he plays, Durant will face a tough test on Friday while nursing an ankle sprain. With limited floor spacing around Durant, the Lakers focused most of their attention on the 37-year-old during Game 2. The Rockets star struggled, while his supporting cast came up short. Durant’s teammates combined to shoot 29-of-77 (37.7 percent) from the field and 6-of-25 (24.0 percent) from three during the loss.
Los Angeles will remain without Luka Doncic on Friday. Meanwhile, the Lakers upgraded Austin Reaves to questionable for the matchup after he missed Games 1 and 2 due to left oblique muscle strain.
