Is Jayson Tatum playing tonight? Celtics vs. 76ers 2026 NBA Playoffs Game 7 injury report

Jayson Tatum and the Boston Celtics are looking to avoid a major meltdown on Saturday night after what’s been a very strong season. Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers have forced a win-or-go-home Game 7 on Saturday night, overcoming a 3-1 series deficit with back-to-back wins with their backs against the wall.

Tatum missed the first 62 games of the season for the Boston Celtics as he recovered from a torn Achilles tendon suffered in Game 4 of their 2025 second round series against the New York Knicks.

He’s been injury free since, but did appear to be dealing with a new injury issue at the end of Game 6 against the 76ers. He even had a wrap around this left calf, bringing some concern to his health and status as the series advances to a seventh game.

Given the recent injury history and the potential severity of a calf injury, it’s fair for fans to wonder: Is Jayson Tatum playing tonight vs. 76ers?

Here’s everything we know about Jayson Tatum’s injury status for tonight’s game vs. the 76ers in Game 7.

Jayson Tatum’s injury status vs. the 76ers in Game 7

Since returning from his right Achilles tear in early March, Jayson Tatum has not been listed on the Boston Celtics injury report. He did miss two games that were back-to-backs as well as the final game of the regular season due to rest.

Entering Saturday’s Game 7, Tatum is not listed on the Celtics injury report and is expected to play. It’s a huge sign of relief after what transpired at the end of Game 6 back in Philly.

Jayson Tatum and the Celtics were blown out of Game 6 against the 76ers, forcing multiple players to end their nights earlier than usual. For Tatum, however, there was a bit of an injury scare.

The Celtics star exited the game with about four minutes remaining in the third quarter and went to the stationary bike to get loose before ultimately going to the Boston locker room at the end of the quarter. Tatum did reemerge from the locker room with an ice pack taped around his left calf.

Tatum did not return to the game, finishing with 17 points, 11 rebounds, and three assists on 6-of-13 shooting in 29 minutes of play. It did concern fans and member of the media alike given Tatum’s history with lower body injuries as well as the potential to suffer re-injury or have other muscles overcompensate in a return from a major injury like the Achilles tear.

“You guys probably saw me when I went to the back and saw me on the bike,” Jayson Tatum said after Game 6. “My leg was just a little stiff when I came out in the third quarter. And just kind of assessing the moment, the game was a little out of reach for you, took your starters out, let the bench guys go in.”

Tatum has his left calf wrapped with ice, but it was his right leg that suffered the devastating Achilles tear last summer.

“Yeah I expect to play [in Game 7],” Tatum added. “It was my other leg, not the one I injured last year. I wasn’t like overly concerned. Shoot, I came out at four minutes like I was supposed to and just kind of assessed the game. They took the starters out fairly early in the fourth quarter so it’s not like that big of a deal.”

Tatum averaged 21.8 points, 10.0 rebounds, 5.3 assists, and 1.4 steals per game for the Celtics in the regular season since returning from injury. Thus far in this series, Tatum is averaging 23.3 points, 10.7 rebounds, 6.8 assists, and 1.2 steals per game while shooting 47.5 percent from the field and 36.5 percent from three.

So, when it comes to the question of if Jayson Tatum is playing tonight vs. the 76ers, the answer is yes.

Celtics injury report

The Celtics have zero players listed on the injury report for Saturday’s game.

76ers injury report

The 76ers have two players listed on the injury report for Saturday’s game.

    • Joel Embiid (Post Appendectomy Surgery Recovery): Probable
    • Tyrese Maxey (Right Tendon Finger Strain): Probable

The Philadelphia 76ers have all the momentum in this series after winning back-to-back games to force a Game 7 back in Boston on Saturday night. Joel Embiid is healthy and back, Tyrese Maxey is playing some of the best basketball of his career, and the Sixers supporting cast is getting it done. If Boston wants to come out of this Game 7 with a win and advance, they’ll need to lock into their gameplan.
