Insider teases 49ers-esque new-look offense for Seahawks’ Sam Darnold and Co.

The Seattle Seahawks will start the defense of their title in a few days when they open the season against the New England Patriots. They made some changes throughout the offseason, with some of the biggest coming on the offensive side of the ball. Outside of Kenneth Walker III signing with the Kansas City Chiefs, they lost Klint Kubiak to the Las Vegas Raiders.

Going into the season, many are wondering what their offense will look like, and ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler gave a sneak peek of what to expect.

“You’re going to see shades of the San Francisco 49ers’ offense with new OC Brian Fleury, who comes from San Fran,” Fowler said on SportsCenter. “You’re going to see motions and shifts. You’re going to see a lot of two tight ends on the field. AJ Barner and Elijah Arroyo are gonna be major parts of this offense.

“Then I take you to Rashid Shaheed. He’s the speedster that came over via trade last year. He wasn’t a huge factor in the offense because he was still learning it; he was still getting acclimated. I’m told he’s had a killer offseason. Jaxon Smith-Njigba- they know he can do it all, but he accounted for about 36% of their target last year. He’s still gonna get a ton of targets, but some more of that could go to Shaheed, who I suspect is more of a complete receiver in this offense.

“Then, rookie Jadarian Price, running back, he’s gonna be a big factor. I don’t know if he’s gonna be that huge 20-carry-a-game workload, because Seattle likes to use two or three backs. That’s their plan this season.”

The Seahawks had an explosive offense last season, and it sounds like nothing will change going into this new year as they look to win back-to-back championships.
