Ian Rapoport, Mike Garafolo push Cowboys-Jaguars Super Bowl narrative based on graphic

The road to the Vince Lombardi Trophy will have to go through the Seattle Seahawks, as they are hell-bent on defending the throne with an intact core led by Sam Darnold, Cooper Kupp, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Leonard Williams, and Devon Witherspoon.

The Seahawks will have an early test when they face the New England Patriots in Week 1 in a much-awaited rematch of last season’s Super Bowl.

On Wednesday, the NFL released an animated graphic of the league’s 32 stars looking at the Vince Lombardi Trophy in the backdrop of SoFi Stadium, the venue for next year’s Super Bowl.

While it looked like a regular visual, NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo and Ian Rapoport could not help but notice a small detail and shared it on X.

“From the folks who brought you the Seahawks-Patriots prediction graphic last year comes the story of the (Jacksonville) Jaguars’ first Super Bowl win? Trevor Lawrence out in front on the road to LA, while Sam Darnold and Drake Maye are now furthest from the stadium,” wrote Garafolo.

“Trevor Lawrence and Dak Prescott are right up there. Interesting,” said Rapoport.

They must be just rage-baiting, right? Jaguars and the Cowboys in the ultimate round?

While it is plausible, it is hard to predict the protagonists in the Super Bowl from a simple graphic, although Dallas has a good chance to make it.

The last time the Cowboys made it to the Super Bowl was in 1996, while the Jaguars have never been to it.

Based on the latest odds, as reported by Yahoo! Sports’ Ben Fawkes, the Cowboys and the Jaguars are not among the favorites to win the coveted crown, with the Los Angeles Rams, the Buffalo Bills, and the Baltimore Ravens in the top three. The Seahawks and the Kansas City Chiefs round out the top five.
