Aaron Judge sends blunt message about Yankees’ 34-season streak

Above anything else, the New York Yankees have to be very happy that Aaron Judge is back in their big-league roster after being absent for over three months due to a stress fracture in his right rib. Judge returned to the starting lineup on Tuesday in the first game of a three-game set against the Colorado Rockies at home, and even though he went 0-3 from the plate with two strikeouts, the important thing is that he’s back in action.

The Yankees, following their 5-3 win over the Rockies on Tuesday, moved to 82-62 on the season, and barring a colossal late-season collapse, they should make it back to the postseason. This latest win also secured a 34th consecutive winning campaign for the Yankees, as they last finished below .500 all the way back in 1992.

Nonetheless, as impressive as that streak may be, Judge knows that the Yankees have greater ambitions than that.

“We’re the Yankees, we’re gonna win. That’s a great streak but everybody in this room is worried about championships,” Judge said after their win over the Rockies, via SNY Yankees on X.

Indeed, the Yankees’ World Series drought is currently at 16 seasons. This is not the longest World Series drought in franchise history, however. They failed to win a title in their first 20 seasons of existence (1903-1922), and this remains the lengthiest title drought for the Yankees.

New York has been in search of title number 28 for quite some time now, and they have always been in the mix, at least for over the past five years or so. Considering how much of the MLB postseason is a crapshoot, the Yankees are hoping that fortune finally smiles in their favor once more.

As for Judge, he’ll be looking to play his way back into rhythm after he looked rusty in his first game back after over three months.
