Barcelona are a team on a mission. After back-to-back La Liga titles under Hansi Flick, this is the season where the Blaugrana want to return the Champions League trophy to the Camp Nou cabinet.

It has been a long time without one for Barca. Their last success on the European stage came back in 2015, when a front three of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar fired Luis Enrique’s side to glory. Since then, Barcelona have not even made the final. 

They came close in Flick’s debut campaign, but Barcelona proceeded to throw away a 6-5 aggregate lead to lose 7-6 to Inter in the semi-finals.

The Italian giants went on to lose 5-0 to Paris Saint-Germain in the final that year. Barcelona would surely have given Luis Enrique’s men a better game.

The Catalan club fell at the quarter-final stage last term, going down to domestic rivals Atletico Madrid. That was another bitter blow.

Flick is under pressure to deliver in Europe this season. The good news is that Barcelona have hit the ground running, winning four games out of four in La Liga.

Their latest triumph was their most impressive yet, a 5-0 thumping of Valencia away from home on Sunday. Barcelona mean business.

This is not the start Feyenoord would have wanted. Back in the Champions League after a year away, they will be up against it on matchday one.

Barcelona are a formidable force when they are in form, which is certainly the case right now. Their four league games up to now have been won by an aggregate score of 17-2.

In each of those matches, Barcelona have won both halves – and we expect them to do the same as they kick-start their European campaign.

This will be a long night for Feyenoord, who will already be looking ahead to their next Champions League game against Como.

Feyenoord should expect their defensive unit to be tested from minute one to 90 on Wednesday.

Barcelona are relentless. They do not give you a moment to breathe. And they are not the sort of side to settle for a 2-0 lead.

Hansi Flick’s team have scored five goals in three of their four La Liga matches in 2026/27. They will not let Feyenoord off the hook either.

He struck twice against Valencia at the weekend, taking his tally for the season to four goals in four appearances.

The teenage starlet will no doubt get plenty of chances to improve upon his return when Feyenoord come to town.
