‘I was so nervous’ – Beau Greaves struck fear into top ten PDC star and left him stunned

Beau Greaves is destined for greatness in darts – she’s a special talent and strikes fear into opponents.

That’s the view of 11-time PDC major winner James Wade, who has lauded ‘Beau ‘n’ Arrow’ – labelling her as the ‘real deal’.

Greaves is the reigning Women’s World Matchplay and has now won that tournament three times across her career.

She faced off against Wade at Players Championship 5 in March 2025, and ‘The Machine’ needed to record his highest average ever of 115.92 to win.

But the 43-year-old, who is preparing for the New Zealand Darts Masters, admitted that the nerves were there.

Speaking to Darts News about Greaves, world number six Wade said: “I’m lucky I’ve only played her once and I averaged something like 115, which is really unusual for me.

“I was so nervous to play her.

“I played her like that and she was with me all way. She really is that good.”

How far does Wade think Greaves will go in darts?

The 22-year-old has just gained a PDC Tour Card for the 2026 season, granting her a place in qualifying for various major tournaments, including the World Championship

She claimed her first PDC ranking title with victory at Players Championship 11 with an 8-7 win over Michael Smith in April, and Wade has high hopes for her.

Speaking about what is to come for Greaves, he remarked: “She is the real deal. I don’t know what Beau does. Beau is better than most men.

“What makes her different. She is something very special. She can average a hundred easy.”

What has Wade said about the media’s coverage of Greaves?

Despite Greaves regarded as one of the top emerging talents in darts, Wade wants the youngster to be given more media exposure.

The big names in darts continue to be Luke Littler, Luke Humphries and Michael van Gerwen.

But Wade feels as if Greaves needs more attention as well.

He remarked: “I think before some players have been covered a bit more than they should have been.

“She really has got the ability and she should be paraded around.”

After winning the Women’s World Matchplay, Greaves made it very clear that her focus is on the PDC Tour.

She said: “It’s tough really, I think I’ve tried to just focus on the men’s side, on my Tour Card. I think after the last Women’s Series, I felt a bit deflated after it.

“I didn’t really enjoy it too much. I just felt a bit like everybody wanted me to lose, so coming out of there I was like, ‘Maybe I should just focus on playing better darts and more competitive darts and my ranking’, just give me something to work towards.

“I think in the ladies game gets a bit stale for everybody because you’re working towards this target and once you’re there, there’s nothing else to go towards.

“After the last one I was just thinking, ‘I think now I’ll concentrate on the Pro Tour and the Euro Tour that I’ve qualified for’, just try and do that.

“I still love that side of the game, but now I think my main goal is the men’s side and enjoy that part of it and the challenges that come with it.”
