Hurricanes’ Jackson Blake gives ‘unbelievable’ props to Logan Stankoven after Game 1 win over Flyers

The Carolina Hurricanes continue to roll in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, having improved to a perfect 5-0 with Saturday’s 3-0 win over the Philadelphia Flyers at Lenovo Center in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Logan Stankoven continued his Conn Smythe Trophy-worthy performance for the Hurricanes, scoring two more goals as part of the win and upping his total to six, tied for the most among current playoff goal scorers. The Hurricanes also got a goal from Jackson Blake, along with a shutout performance from goaltender Frederik Andersen.

Following the game, Blake gave a special shoutout to the performances of Stankoven and fellow linemate Taylor Hall, which has been one of the main factors behind Carolina’s success so far in the postseason.

“For sure, I mean, Stanks has been unbelievable this postseason,” Blake said via NHL Media on X. “I mean, He’s been unbelievable all year, but especially this postseason. He’s been probably the hottest guy in hockey right now. But our line too, Hallsy (Taylor Hall), making those little plays makes it easier on me, and especially Stanks and Hallsy, they’re working so hard and being junkyard dogs out there. Really fun to play with.”

Both Stankoven and Hall are playing in their first full seasons with the Hurricanes after both were acquired last season in separate Mikko Rantanen deals. Hall was acquired in a three-team trade from the Chicago Blackhawks also involving the Colorado Avalanche and Rantanen, while Stankoven was acquired weeks later from the Dallas Stars as part of a package for Rantanen.

Stankoven soon signed an eight-year, $48 million contract with the Hurricanes, and it’s paying off, especially with how he has played so far in the postseason.
