Giants star slams ‘BS’ Cam Skattebo fight narrative as John Harbaugh calls out ‘infectious disease’

A member of the New York Giants offensive line has called out a reporter for trying to create a ‘BS narrative’ around Cam Skattebo.

On Wednesday, New York Daily News Giants reporter Pat Leonard posed on X that the 24-year-old running back had instigated a fight with his teammates.

“Cam Skattebo started a fight in practice today. He slid down after a reception and came dangerously close to taking out a couple Giants DBs’ legs,” Leonard posted.

“The defense isn’t allowed to hit. Jevon Holland and Greg Newsome did not appreciate it.

“Situation escalated between Skattebo and Newsome… Skattebo has had it coming.

“He ran over linebacker Zaire Barnes the other day, too, when the defense wasn’t hitting. His act is getting old to his defensive teammates.”

Offensive lineman Jermaine Eluemunor quickly jumped to the defense of Skattebo, suggesting that’s not the way things played out.

“Stop trying to create a BS Narrative,” he said on X with the cap emoji.

Eluemunor wasn’t the only one to call out Leonard for trying to create unnecessary drama within the locker room.

“Notice how you’re the only reporter talking about this trying to stir up locker room drama loser,” one fan said.

“Stop trying to create headlines to stories that do not exist,” a second added.

“‘His act’ did you speak to the defensive players about it? Or are you just trying to spread false narratives like usual?” a third commented.

However, Leonard doubled down on his claim in the comments section, replying with quotes from new head coach John Harbaugh, who was talking about a 15-yard penalty Skattebo received at the end of practice.

“He got a 15-yard penalty at the end of practice. Did you see that? Yeah it’s infectious. It can be infectious the other way, an infectious disease type of thing. We want it to be in a positive way.” Harbaugh said.

Skattebo is known to show his wild side, but multiple Giants fans have said that is exactly the reason they love him so much.

The second-year RB’s health is an important factor for the Giants as they prepare to enter a new era under Harbaugh.

Their running game finished as a top-5 unit last year, and the rookie was a big part of that.

He posted 410 rushing yards, 24 receptions for 207 yards, and seven touchdowns from scrimmage.

The Arizona State product is recovering from an open tibia fracture, ruptured deltoid ligament and right ankle dislocation that ended his rookie season early.

However, that didn’t stop him from breaking one of Harbaugh’s golden rules and backflipping during a Fanatics festival event in July.

Harbaugh and the Giants will be hoping Skattebo and quarterback Jaxson Dart can continue to strengthen the relationship that captured the hearts of many Giants fans last year.

The Giants and New York Jets meet this weekend for their annual pre-season matchup before 53-man rosters will be set.
