Giants’ Logan Webb ruthlessly rips own performance vs. Padres

To say that the San Francisco Giants have been bad this season would be a major understatement. Their offense has been the worst in MLB in the early goings of the 2026 campaign, with heavy hitters such as Rafael Devers and Willy Adames playing rather poorly. If there’s any saving grace for the Giants, especially heading into their Tuesday night clash against the San Diego Padres, it’s that ace Logan Webb will be heading to the mound.

Webb hasn’t been at his best thus far this season, but he’s had such a lengthy history of solid production that the Giants know they can rely on him every five days. However, the rot that is festering within the Giants seems to have latched onto Webb as well. He was rather poor on Tuesday, lasting just four innings after allowing six earned runs to the Padres in a 10-5 defeat.

After that dreadful performance, Webb ripped himself apart, criticizing himself for performing poorly and even going as far as to say that he shouldn’t have been on the mound due to how terribly he played.

“I probably shouldn’t have been in the game to begin with. I wasn’t very good today,” Webb told reporters, via KNBR on X (formerly Twitter). “I was dogs**t today.”

Webb’s ERA ballooned to 5.06 with that start, and the Giants’ woes continued as a result. They’ve now fallen to 14-22 on the season as their dreadful play under new manager Tony Vitello continues.

If there’s any solace to be had, it’s that there is a long way to go in the 2026 MLB regular season. Only 36 of 162 games have elapsed and the Giants have plenty of time to turn things around.

But the mood surrounding the Giants has been turning foul with each passing loss. And with their offense struggling big time, the last thing they need is for their pitching to falter as well.
