The FedExCup Playoffs begin next week in Memphis and when they do 70 players will do battle over a few weeks time in the name of rising above them all like Tommy Fleetwood last year.

While matters are essentially tended to, this week’s Wyndham Championship offers the final opportunity for PGA Tour players to punch their ticket into the proverbial tournament. As noted there are 70 players who reach the playoffs and it stands to reason that those on the bubble want a good showing in North Carolina.

Of all players currently ranked 60-80 in the FedExCup standings, only Shane Lowry (number 60 on the dot) is not in the field this week. He must feel like he is fairly safe.

Here are the standings at the moment of that particular group:

60. Shane Lowry

61. Nick Taylor

62. Harry Hall

63. Brian Harman

64. Patrick Rodgers

65. Aldrich Potgieter

66. Ricky Castillo

67. Matti Schmid

68. Jordan Smith

69. Steven Fisk

70. Jackson Koivun

A reminder that the top 70 players advance.

71. Mac Meissner

72. Keegan Bradley

73. Andrew Putnam

74. Johnny Keefer

75. Jason Day

76. Austin Smotherman

77. Stephan Jaeger

78. David Lipsky

79. Tom Hoge

80. Matt Wallace

There are two names that stand out in terms of those yet to qualify: Keegan Bradley and Jason Day. It will be important to them to finish well at the Wyndham in the name of getting inside the top 70.

We will see what happens.
