Giants’ Logan Webb drops brutal admission on struggles: ‘I’m kinda hurting the team’

Logan Webb’s 2026 season has not gone well. Coming off an appearance in the World Baseball Classic, the San Francisco Giants pitcher was expected to resume his role as the ace of the team. However, his first few stars have not been up to par. His ERA through five starts this season is at a whopping 5.40, the fourth-worst mark amongst all qualified starters in the National League.

Webb was at least able to log a win against the Washington Nationals, but it wasn’t pretty. The Giants starter lasted six innings, allowing four runs on seven hits and two walks. Webb struck out six batters in the game as well. Thanks to a gargantuan effort from the offense, San Francisco walked away with a 10-5 win in their series opener.

Understandably, Webb isn’t happy with his performance despite the win. In an interview after the game, the Giants pitcher admitted that he feels like he’s hurting the team with his play over the course of the season.

"I feel like at this point I'm just kind of hurting the team, to be honest."

“At this point, I’m just kind of hurting the team, to be honest,” Webb said when asked about his evaluation of his game. “Lucky we scored 10. I think we scored 10, right? Yeah, I’m just trying to figure it out.”

Webb has had five starts this year, all of which have not been up to his usual standards. His first game was an abject disaster, allowing seven runs on nine hits against the New York Yankees while pitching just five innings. He’s had a few good showings since then – a seven-inning performance against the New York Mets, where he allowed just one run, is amazing. However, there’s been a lot more duds than usual for Webb.

The Giants improved to 8-12 on the season. They are once again struggling to find good production from the team.
