Francis Ngannou dwarfs opponent by 37lbs as Ronda Rousey and Gina Carano make weight for Netflix blockbuster

All fighters on the Ronda Rousey vs Gina Carano bill have successfully made weight.

Rousey and Carano were the first to hit the scales on Friday morning ahead of their main event bout, which tops Netflix’s inaugural MMA show this weekend.

Both women’s fighting legends are returning to MMA after lengthy retirements and have had to pass strict medical tests to be cleared for the fight.

What did Rousey and Carano weigh?

Rousey, who hasn’t fought since a 48-second knockout defeat to Amanda Nunes in December 2016, stepped up first and came in at 142lbs.

Carano, who has been absent from MMA since 2009, followed at 141.4lbs, easily clearing the featherweight limit for a non-title bout of 146lbs.

In the co-main event this weekend, Americans Nate Diaz and Mike Perry battle it out in what many MMA fans are viewing as the people’s main event.

Like Rousey and Carano, both men had no issues making weight.

Diaz tipped the scales at 168.6lbs for the welterweight (170lbs limit) contest, while Perry came in just over at 169.6lbs, 27lbs lighter than when he boxed Jake Paul in 2024.

Elsewhere, the most notable weigh-in between those at the top of the Netflix bill came in the heavyweight division.

Francis Ngannou returns to MMA to face ex-UFC light heavyweight Philipe Lins.

Ngannou hasn’t fought in the cage since brutally stopping Renan Ferreira under the PFL banner in 2024.

‘The Predator’ came in at just heavier than he did for his fight against Ferreira, tipping the scales at 257lbs.

Rousey vs Carano: Official weights

Main card

  • Ronda Rousey (142lbs) vs Gina Carano (141.4lbs) – women’s featherweight
  • Nate Diaz (168.6lbs) vs Mike Perry (169.6lbs) – welterweight
  • Francis Ngannou (257lbs) vs Philipe Lins (220.6lbs) – heavyweight
  • Salahdine Parnasse (154.8lbs) vs Kenneth Cross (155.4lbs) – lightweight
  • Junior dos Santos (245.4lbs) vs Robelis Despaigne (258.8lbs) – heavyweight

Although Ngannou’s weight is a far cry from the 272lbs he weighed when battling Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua in the ring, he was a whopping 37lbs heavier than his opponent, Lins.

Lins, who has fought most of his career as a light heavyweight, weighed in at 220.6lbs.

And it’s fair to say the oddsmakers may now be leaning even more in favour of former UFC heavyweight champion Ngannou, who is expected to score a quick finish.

Also on the main card, French prospect Salahdine Parnasse and his opponent Kenny Cross both made weight for their lightweight contest (155lbs limit).

Heavyweight giants Robelis Despaigne and Junior dos Santos, meanwhile, weighed 258.8lbs and 245.4lbs, respectively.

Every other combatant also successfully made weight for the Netflix event at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California.
