France vs Morocco – Bet Builder Tips | 5/1 odds and prediction | talkSPORT
The first quarter-final of the World Cup 2026 is arguably the pick of the round, with Morocco looking to avenge their loss from the 2022 event Qatar.
The match takes place from Boston Stadium on Thursday night with a place in the semi-finals on the line, and it’s a straight rerun of the 2022 last-four tie that ended the Atlas Lions’ fairytale. If France win, then Didier Deschamps’ side move a step closer to a third final in a row, most likely against Spain or Belgium.
Morocco, for their part, don’t just want the chance to get to the semi-final, they really want the win over a country that has had their number for quite some time.
France are a short 4/7 to win in 90 minutes, which is a banker price rather than a value one, and the alternatives all carry knockout-football risk. I.e. a draw sends this to extra time and possibly penalties, where Morocco’s shootout record is actually really strong.
So, backing the straight result will get you very little. The smarter play here is to put together legs for a bet builder. I’ve put together a three-leg build on Sky Bet that prices up at around 5/1 (correct at the time of writing) with France to win, Mbappé to score, and Olise to grab an assist.

Our 5/1 bet builder: Mbappé to score, France to win, Olise to assist
France are likely to control the ball in this one and keep trying to probe a deep Morocco block. Olise will be the one who picks the lock with the kind of pass that’s brought him five assists already in this tournament, which Mbappé finishes and then gives France the win and moves them on to the semis.

France vs Morocco bet builder breakdown
Kylian Mbappé to score anytime
Why: Mbappé is easily the most data-backed single bet of the three I’ve picked here, and it’s not even close. He’s France’s penalty taker, he’s scored in both knockout games so far, and against a side that will sit deep and invite pressure, almost every French chance will probably run through him.
Morocco can be organised and horrible to break down, but they have to give the ball back eventually, and when they do, Mbappé will be the one waiting.
Stat: Seven goals leaves him second in the tournament’s golden boot race, just behind Lionel Messi (who has 8 following the game with Egypt), and his winner from the spot against Paraguay was his 19th at World Cups across just 19 appearances. That’s the sort of consistency that proves his quality rather than being a fluke.

France to win (90 minutes)
Why: Deschamps has a perfect record in this tournament so far, with a settled XI and the deepest attacking rotation left in the competition. France have already beaten Morocco in each of their competitive meetings that mattered, including that 2-0 semi-final in Qatar.
The one honest caveat here is that the 1-0 grind past Paraguay showed a stubborn, deep-defending side can drag France into a slog, and that’s exactly what Morocco are going to try and emulate.
Stat: Five wins from five, 14 goals scored, two conceded, three clean sheets. France are the tournament’s most complete side at both ends, and at 4/7 the price simply reflects that.

Michael Olise 1+ assists
Why: This is the leg that turns the short-priced double into a decent prospect, but it is still grounded in form rather than just a hit and hope. Olise has been France’s chief creator all summer, pulling the strings from a free central role behind Mbappé.
Against a low block, the assist market actually gets more attractive, not less, because France will have the ball in the final third for long spells, and Olise is the one trying to find that through-ball. It’s also the leg most likely to let the build down, which is the real trade-off for the odds here.
Stat: Five assists in five games, more than any other France player, and Opta had him as the first man at the tournament to combine 10+ dribbles, 10+ open-play chances created and 10+ through balls.

How to place this France vs Morocco bet builder
Placing this bet on the Sky Bet app is really easy and takes just under a minute.
- First you need to open the France v Morocco fixture from the World Cup 2026 section, then tap into the goalscorer market and add Kylian Mbappé to score anytime.
- Then, you need to head to the match result market and add France to win.
- Finally, open player specials or assists and add Michael Olise 1+ assists.
The slip will then recognise all three as one bet builder and return a single price.
It’s always worth double-checking every leg is showing before you confirm, and it’s always worth a quick scan of a couple of other books for the compounding value of multi-leg odds (because there may well be a better offer out there).

Stats that matter for your bet
- Supports Mbappé to score: He’s on seven goals for the tournament, takes the penalties, and has found the net in both knockout rounds so far.
- Supports France to win: Five wins from five, only two goals conceded, and an unbeaten competitive record against Morocco that includes the 2022 semi-final.
- Supports Olise to assist: Five assists in five games make him France’s most productive creator against a block that will cede possession and territory.
- Team news: Morocco could be without leading scorer Ismael Saibari (hamstring), which thins their goal threat, while France are still awaiting news on Aurélien Tchouaméni.
Why we are backing this bet builder
Because France are likely to dominate the ball, Morocco will drop deep and defend their box.
And because Morocco will have to defend deep, they hand France long spells of final-third possession; giving the two men who’ve defined their tournament, Olise to create, Mbappé to finish, the route to the goal that also wins them the game.
It’s a France-attacking bet builder that I’ve put together here, which is its strength but also its risk.
A 1-0 penalty win with no Olise assist is what potentially busts it. But, if this plays out the way the tournament so far suggests, all three land together for around 5/1 (correct as of writing).

France vs Morocco odds
Just for balance beyond SkyBet, here is where the straight result market sits elsewhere.
France are heavy favourites, the draw is a fair each-way shout given the extra-time threat, and Morocco do still carry a tempting three-figure look for anyone who fancies the upset.

France vs Morocco match prediction and line-ups
I do expect Morocco to make this awkward for an hour and to find the net at some point, but France’s squad depth will start to tell in the final 20 minutes. Deschamps can bring on match-winners while Ouahbi’s options will thin out, and that’s usually where these knockout ties are decided.
Prediction: France 2-1 Morocco
France predictions: I think that Deschamps probably sticks with his 4-2-3-1, built around Mbappé through the middle with Dembélé and (likely) Doué stretching the width and Olise floating behind.
Manu Koné looks set to keep his place alongside Adrien Rabiot if Tchouaméni isn’t risked, and the Saliba-Upamecano pairing has been the backbone of those clean sheets so far.
- Predicted XI: Maignan; Koundé, Saliba, Upamecano, T. Hernández; Rabiot, Koné; Dembélé, Olise, Doué; Mbappé.
Morocco predictions: Ouahbi’s own 4-2-3-1 is fine tuned for keeping better sides contained, springing forward through captain Achraf Hakimi and the creativity of Brahim Díaz, with Azzedine Ounahi arriving late from a more advanced role.
Saibari’s fitness is the big question though, and if he can’t go, Soufiane Rahimi leads the line. There’s a doubt over Chadi Riad at the back after his knee kept him out against Canada.
- Predicted XI: Bounou; Hakimi, Diop, Riad, Mazraoui; El Aynaoui, Bouaddi; Díaz, Ounahi, El Khannouss; Rahimi.e uncertainties to monitor before placing.
