Florida’s Alex Condon makes final decision on 2026 NBA Draft

Florida basketball is undergoing roster attrition season starting with losing 7-foot-9 big Olivier Rioux. Fans in Gainesville then began to brace themselves for what Alex Condon would decide. Condon has garnered pre-NBA Draft attention following his junior season.

ESPN NBA insider Shams Charania revealed Wednesday what Condon will do next.

“Florida’s Alex Condon – the No. 30 prospect on ESPN’s Top 100 – is returning to the Gators for his senior year, he tells me and Jeremy Woo. Condon will be a projected first-rounder in 2027 and among the top big men in college basketball,” Charania posted on the social media website X, formerly Twitter. 

Condon pivoting back to Florida is huge for Todd Golden and company for multiple reasons.

The national title winning head coach of 2025 gains back one of his more consistent post options. Condon has delivered 11.0 points per game with 7.1 rebounds across three seasons at UF. The Australian native already surpassed the 1,000 career points mark too.

Condon raised his game another level this past season: Dropping 15.1 points and 7.5 rebounds a night. He showed his distribution side too in dishing out 3.6 assists down low.

The center rose as a finalist for the coveted Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award, which honors the nation’s best center. Zuby Ejiofor of St. John’s claimed the 2026 award, though.

Still, Condon’s return reignites national championship chatter in The Swamp.

Florida earned a way-too-early No. 9 prediction after the college basketball season. Condon isn’t the only significant returner here either. Fellow Florida stars Boogie Fland and Urban Klavzar opted to avoid entering the College Basketball Transfer Portal or draft. Both will form a stout trio with Condon.
