Florida State’s band expertly trolls ‘All of the Lights’ rendition

Florida State football played a far different version of a lights-out contest with SMU, literally. That’s because the Seminoles-versus-Mustangs Monday showdown was interrupted by a power outage, causing FSU head coach Mike Norvell plus new quarterback Ashton Daniels to endure quite the delay.

So how did FSU find a way to keep the crowd entertained? The FSU band came calling.

The band spontaneously began performing “All of the Lights” on their instruments, performing their version of the famed Kanye West hit featuring Rihanna, Kid Cudi, and Fergie.

Quite the way to make light of the situation. Ultimately, the power finally came back on inside Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee. But still, FSU versus SMU got off to a rocky start during Labor Day weekend and became the third notable postponement.

Colorado at Georgia Tech, with the former led by ex-FSU star Deion Sanders, experienced its own delay Thursday. Bobby Dodd Stadium experienced lightning in the area, which forced both teams to briefly flee to their locker rooms.

Meanwhile, Clemson at LSU needed to be pushed back at kickoff too. That idea also delayed the highly anticipated debut of new Tigers head coach Lane Kiffin inside the Baton Rouge venue.

But this Atlantic Coast Conference showdown in Florida’s state capital didn’t experience lightning in the area. Nor even inclement weather before kickoff. Monday’s delay was simply a power malfunction that prevented both teams from starting at their designated kickoff time of 8:30 p.m. ET.

Meanwhile, FSU and Norvell’s team started slowly by watching SMU quarterback Kevin Jennings toss the first touchdown of the evening.
