Florida State lands talented pass-rush recruit over Auburn

Florida State added another valuable piece to its 2027 recruiting class on Sunday, as three-star edge rusher Jaxon Holly announced his commitment to the Seminoles over the Auburn Tigers and the Virginia Tech Hokies.

Holly, a 6-foot-3, 235-pound defender from Georgia, plays for Roswell High School after transferring from Alpharetta High School. He is ranked on the 247Sports Composite as the No. 611 overall prospect nationally, the No. 52 edge rusher, and the No. 76 player in Georgia. Rivals lists him as the No. 63 edge in the country and the No. 73 Georgia prospect. Holly also holds an 88 rating on 247Sports, ranking No. 46 among edge rushers and No. 65 in Georgia. He received almost around three dozen scholarship offers.

During his junior season, Holly appeared in five games and recorded 32 tackles, seven tackles for loss, and two sacks. He also compiled 12 quarterback hurries, two pass breakups, and a forced fumble.

Holly officially visited Auburn on May 29 and Virginia Tech last week before completing his final official visit to Florida State. He committed at dinner on Saturday night following the visit in Tallahassee, after previously indicating that FSU was a front-runner in his recruitment.

Seminoles edge coach Nick Williams led the recruitment, with a long-standing connection dating back to his time recruiting Holly at Syracuse. Head coach Mike Norvell also played a pivotal role in securing the commitment.

Holly becomes the 10th commitment in Florida State’s 2027 class, which has also seen six decommitments. He is the second edge rusher in the class alongside four-star Anthony Cavallaro, who has been committed since January. He was also hosted during his visit by FSU pass rusher Rylan Kennedy.

Holly may need time in the weight room before contributing as a rotational defender, but his tools and production highlight his upside.
