Fever’s Caitlin Clark has brutally honest assessment of her WNBA career so far

With the Indiana Fever led by star Caitlin Clark, there is no denying that she is probably on her way to being one of the best players in the entire WNBA; if not, she has already been there. As the Fever star in Clark no doubt has the talent, injuries have held her back from fully showcasing her skills, as she reflects on her professional career thus far.

Speaking to Malika Andrews of ESPN, Clark would be asked about where she ranks herself on a scale from one to 10, where the lowest is still finding her footing and the highest is that she’s at her peak. Giving herself a six, she would explain how she doesn’t have the full experience yet, due to the injuries.

“I’ve only played 60 games in this league, and I’ve played two playoff games,” Clark said. “To a lot of people, probably feels like I’ve played a lot more, and to me, it maybe feels like I’ve played a lot more at times. Obviously, I missed three-fourths of the season last year, so I feel like I worked so hard to kind of get back for USA basketball, kind of find my feet again.”

Fever’s Caitlin Clark on having room for improvement

Looking at Clark’s season thus far with the Fever, she is averaging 20.8 points, 8.2 assists, and 4.4 rebounds per game while shooting 40.7 percent from the field and 32.7 percent from beyond the arc. Continuing on her thoughts, Clark would even say that at 24 years old, she has “so much room to improve.”

“At the same time, I’m only 24, like I still feel like I have so much room to improve, and I know that, and I want to get better, and I want to learn,” Clark said.

Andrew would follow up on Clark’s thoughts, asking if that is scary for the rest of the WNBA that she isn’t at her fullest potential yet, as the guard responded in a subtle way.

“I guess, we’ll have to see,” Clark said.

Clark and Indiana continue their season as ahead of Saturday’s game against the Atlanta Dream, the team was 9-6.
