Fans livid as Scott Foster appears to berate Celtics employee on live TV
The Boston Celtics easily handled the Philadelphia 76ers in Game 1 of the NBA’s Eastern Conference first round playoff series. Boston took down the Philly, 123-91, led by Jaylen Brown’s 26-point performance and Jayson Tatum’s 25-point game.
Some fans came out of the game a little frustrated, however, after watching crew chief Scott Foster appeared to berate someone behind the scorer’s table inside Boston’s TD Garden.
With 4:39 remaining in the first quarter, Foster walked over to the scorer’s table and the replay review camera to announce a review for whether or not Sixers center Andre Drummond last touched the ball before going out of bounds. But as Foster began to announce the review, he appeared to undergo some kind of technical difficulty.
He smacked the button to turn on his audio and said, “checking to see…” before trailing off. He then smacked the button again harder, and said, “are we using this?” Foster then stepped away from the button and scorer’s table and appeared to mouth the words, “do your job,” to someone behind the scorer’s table.
The incident was caught on live TV during ESPN’s broadcast of Celtics-Sixers.

“Proof refs have an ego,” said another fan. “Imagine how this affects how they ref a game instead of staying objective.”
