Exclusive: ‘Shocked’ Jordyn Woods on Karl-Anthony Towns, Knicks’ bond through NBA title run

NEW YORK – Few had a better view of the New York Knicks’ 2026 Championship than Karl-Anthony Towns’ fiancée, Jordyn Woods. She even became a star of the run in her own right, with her brand making an orange bag for the postseason that fans decided had lucky powers.

Superstitions are an inevitable part of sustained winning or losing in sports.  Championship runs, in particular, can give rise to some of the most powerful psychological forces. The ultimate evidence lies in her brand, Woods by Jordyn, selling out of the orange clutch and not expecting recent pre-orders to ship until September.

Woods has played up the notion that her bag helped end the 53-year championship drought, even bringing it down the Canyon of Heroes on Towns’ parade float. The real heartbeat of the historic success, though, was the mentalities and skill sets of the Knicks players themselves. She saw it the entire time and described their resilience to ClutchPoints in an exclusive interview.

“The adversity that these guys face and overcome. They came together and got closer. The bond that they grew, it’s just really amazing to witness firsthand,” Woods explained to ClutchPoints at her and Towns’ stop at Raising Cane’s in Times Square.
“Karl, being the most optimistic, positive person all the time, no matter what people say. He’s always just head-high. I’m so in shock. I really can’t believe that they did it.”

Karl-Anthony Towns’ luck extended off the court after engagement

Woods also revealed that her and Towns’ postseason luck wasn’t limited to the Knicks’ success. The center is a proud card collector and has explained that he has his fiancée open packs of cards for good luck. Woods told ClutchPoints she “packed” four entirely unique, one-of-one cards the same week the Knicks won the NBA Finals.

“You know what, before every game, there was a vault purchase. I personally don’t buy them, but I open them. And the week that we won, I opened four 1-of-1’s. Yeah,” Woods said, pausing to laugh. “And that’s that.”

The Knicks were dominant. Players earned each of their 16 postseason wins. Most, though, were far from normal. At one point, it began to feel like each Knicks victory would either be a come-from-behind thriller or a historic blowout.

It was always going to feel supernatural when the organization ended its steadily growing title drought. Perhaps Woods’ bag and other superstitions played no role at all. Maybe it was the Knicks’ attitudes, and their attitudes alone, that helped them persevere past four different opponents.

Belief, however, isn’t a single-player game. New York’s players wouldn’t have all won if they didn’t all believe in each other. Towns made it clear on Tuesday that his sights were singularly set on his team’s championship aspirations. He almost-sheepishly admitted the “only thing [he’d] been planning this whole time was an NBA Championship” when asked about wedding plans, with the couple having announced their engagement last Christmas.

Woods, on the other hand, may have had both major stages – The Finals and that of her wedding – on her mind throughout the postseason. After hearing her fiancé introduced as an NBA Champion, she couldn’t hide her excitement for their wedding behind her pride for Towns.

“Has a nice ring to it,” Woods noted. “No pun intended!”
