Bromley have been promoted to League One for the first time in their history.

The Ravens’ place in the third-tier was confirmed on Saturday after Notts County lost 2-1 to Barnet.

Andy Woodman’s side had initially missed the chance to clinch promotion when they were held to a 0-0 draw by Cambridge United on Thursday.

Bromley now have an unassailable seven-point lead over fourth place Salford and Notts County, who have dropped to fifth, with two matches remaining.

The League Two leaders will now play in the third-tier of English football for the first time in their 134-year history.

Taking to social media immediately after County’s loss, Bromley posted on X: “WE ARE GOING UP.

“Following today’s results, the Ravens have been promoted to Sky Bet League One for the first time ever.”

In a follow-up post, they said: “Party in Broomfields. Now.

“Get yourself down to Hayes Lane and enjoy the celebrations with some of your promotion heroes!”

And Bromley then were quick to thank Barnet, as they posted an image of Woodman and his counterpart Dean Brennan shaking hands.

Captioning the picture, Bromley simply stated: “Cheers ladsm @BarnetFC.”

Founded in 1892, the club were only promoted to the Football League for the first time two years ago.

Following their promotion via the play-offs, Bromley finished 11th in League Two last season.

However, they have stormed to the top of the table this term and are now just one win away from clinching the title.

And Bromley are also on the cusp of becoming just the second side ever to go the entire season unbeaten at home and win the fourth-tier title.

Terry cooper’s Exeter City team were the last to achieve the feat in 1990.

Bromley’s remarkable rise has seen them secure five promotions in 21 years, having been playing in the eighth-tier as recently as 2005.

They will now be facing the likes of Sheffield Wednesday in League One next season.

Woodman, who was appointed manager in March 2021, has overseen the club’s two most recent promotions.

His side twice suffered heartache in the National League play-offs before beating Solihull Moors on penalties at Wembley Stadium in 2024.
