Eagles’ Jalen Hurts basically tells Drake Maye he’s on his own with AJ Brown
The Philadelphia Eagles are not far removed from a Super Bowl-winning season. Philadelphia won its championship with a high-powered offense consisting of players like Jalen Hurts and AJ Brown. Two years later, Hurts remains with the Eagles, but Brown is now with Drake Maye and the New England Patriots.
The Patriots swung a trade for Brown this offseason. New England’s new star receiver seemed to have been at odds with the Eagles during the 2025 campaign. On Wednesday, Hurts was asked if he had any advice for Maye about working with Brown. The Philadelphia signal-caller declined to provide any advice.
“I think Drake has had a lot of success already, so I don’t know what my advice would do. I think he just needs to continue the progression he’s on. He’s already accomplished so many great things in a short time. I expect more great things to come for him,” the Eagles quarterback said, via Henry McKenna of FOX Sports.
The Eagles had some struggles with their offense in 2025 prior to this trade. Philadelphia’s offensive woes did not prevent them from making the playoffs. However, they were unable to overcome the San Francisco 49ers last year, falling in the Wild Card round.
Brown now has a fresh start with an up-and-coming Patriots team. New England made the Super Bowl in 2025, marking their first appearance in the big game since 2018. He recorded his fourth-straight 1000-yard season last year and hopes to bring that same success to the field in 2026. The Patriots and Eagles meet up in a preseason clash on Saturday.
