Ex-Knicks guard Ryan Arcidiacono finds new team 2 years after last NBA game
Two years ago, guard Ryan Arcidiacono played for the New York Knicks. Since then, a lot has happened.
The Knicks won their first NBA title in 53 years. Then, on Wednesday, Arcidiacono signed a deal to play professionally in Germany, per Luke Adams of Hoop Rumors. He signed a one-year contract with Frankfurt Skyliners.
Arcidiacono was put on the map during his college years at Villanova from 2012 to 2016. There, he earned the nickname “Arch of Dimes” for his leadership and offensive intelligence. In his senior year, the Wildcats beat North Carolina in the NCAA title game. It was Arcidiacono who provided the assist to Kris Jenkins when he hit the game-winning shot at the buzzer. He would also win the Final Four’s Most Outstanding Player Award.
Altogether, Arcidiacono would become the first player in program history to achieve 1,600 points and 500 assists. In total, he finished with 1,604 points and 535 assists.
Arcidiacono played in the NBA from 2017 to 2024. The Chicago Bulls drafted him in 2016, and he played four seasons from 2017 to 2021. Arcidiacono then played for the Knicks from 2022 to 2023. Afterward, he was sent to the Portland Trail Blazers, where he played in 2023.
Ultimately, Arcidiacono returned to the Knicks in 2024, where he played in 2020 games. Although he didn’t play a whole lot, Arcidiacono would eventually become a favorite of then-coach Tom Thidbeadu.
He praised him for his professional composure. In all, Arcidiacono had a career average of 4.o points, 1.9 assists, and 1.8 rebounds in 15.3 minutes of play during his career.
Additionally, Arcidiacono played professionally in Italy and Puerto Rico.
