Dream’s Rhyne Howard can’t be stopped with 36-point performance vs. Sun

The Atlanta Dream are still on a roll, as they won their fourth game in five outings with a 91-75 victory over the Connecticut Sun on Tuesday night at Gateway Center in College Park, Georgia.

Atlanta guard Rhyne Howard was easily the biggest thorn in the side of the Sun, who were repeatedly torched by the former WNBA Rookie of the Year in the contest.

Howard led all scorers in the contest with 36 points on 12-for-24 shooting from the field, including eight 3-pointers (on 19 attempts from deep), while adding three steals, two rebounds and two assists in 37 minutes of action. It was also the third time in her WNBA career that she managed to knock down at least eight 3-pointers in a game.

She entered the Sun game with 2026 season averages of 16.5 points, 4.2 rebounds and 4.2 assists with a 51.3 effective field goal percentage.

Howard is clearly living up to the hype that came with her when the Dream selected her first overall in the 2022 WNBA Draft.

The former Kentucky Wildcats women’s basketball star was a WNBA All-Star right in her very first season in the pros.

The 26-year-old Howard did not have to do it all by herself for the Dream against Connecticut, though. Alisha Gray pumped in 26 points on 9-for-17 shooting, while Angel Reese had a double-double of 12 points and 13 boards for Atlanta, which improved to 6-2 this season.

Coming right up for Howard and the Dream is a matchup against Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever in a road game on Thursday at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana.
