Draymond Green addresses Steve Kerr rumors with revealing take

The Golden State Warriors are awaiting the decision of Steve Kerr and whether or not he’ll return as head coach of the franchise. Without knowing what Kerr plans to do, the Warriors are unable to plan for their future.

Warriors forward Draymond Green was a guest analyst on Inside the NBA, and was asked about what he believes Kerr will do. The outspoken Green gave his thoughts on Kerr’s future with the franchise.

“I don’t know more than anyone else in the world knows outside of what I do know is that he wants to coach and so he wants to coach,” Green said. “I think he comes back.”

Last week, Green made comments on his podcast saying that Kerr, “hindered,” his career, in a way. On Inside the NBA, Green made sure to address those comments as well.

“I think number one people took a four-minute clip of me saying how great this guy has been to my career,” Green added. “How much he’s taught me about winning where I wouldn’t be without him and all these things and they took a four-minute clip and they took 15 seconds of it where I said yeah, I think from an offensive standpoint. He hindered me. I stand by that. That’s my truth. But I think every basketball player in the world has some gripe that they wish their coach would have done. I wish my coach would have this. I wish my coach would have done that. I’m not afraid to express my one gripe, but with me expressing my one gripe make no mistake about it. I also said all of the incredible things how much of a better man he’s made me I spoke on all of those things and we take one clip, right?”

If he elects not to return to coach the Warriors, the franchise will be looking at legitimate changes from the coaching staff to the players.

Ideally, the Warriors would like to have Steve Kerr’s decision prior to the NBA Draft Lottery so they can begin planning a future with — or without — him.

Steve Kerr has coached the Golden State Warriors for 12 seasons totaling 957 regular season games and 152 playoff games.
