Don’t panic about Zay Flowers’ injury absence from Ravens practice

The Baltimore Ravens have just over two weeks left until they kick off their 2026 NFL season. The Ravens have had an eventful offseason, including signing wide receiver Zay Flowers to one of the richest contracts in the position’s history.

On Wednesday, the Ravens got an update on Flowers’ status for practice.

“Ravens WR Zay Flowers didn’t practice in the joint practice because he’s dealing with something minor, per Jesse Minter,” reported Jamison Hensley of ESPN on X, formerly Twitter.

The Ravens are currently taking part in a joint practice with the Washington Commanders ahead of the preseason game between the two teams later in the week. Although the exact nature of Flowers’ ailment has not been specific, thankfully, it doesn’t appear to be anything too severe.

Some fans were puzzled when the Ravens inked Flowers to a deal that pays him like one of the very best receivers in the NFL landscape, but he has become an integral part of Baltimore’s offensive attack over the last few years, using his elite speed and route-running ability to torch opposing defenses and give quarterback Lamar Jackson a reliable target downfield.

The pressure is on for the Ravens to bounce back this year after missing the playoffs altogether in 2025, which caused the team to fire head coach John Harbaugh and bring in Jesse Minter to replace him.

In any case, the Ravens are slated to kick off their regular season on September 13 with a road game against the Indianapolis Colts at 1:00 pm ET.
