Dolphins sign ex-Chargers, Eagles receiver to contract

The Miami Dolphins are preparing to enter their Malik Willis era. Now, they are trying to surround him with talented pass catchers.

On Tuesday, the Dolphins signed Jalen Reagor to a contract, the team announced. While the terms of his new deal are not yet known, Miami waived safety/inside linebacker Jordan Colbert to make room for Reagor.

The wide receiver spent the 2025 season with the Los Angeles Chargers, although he only appeared in eight games. He caught just caught seven passes for 100 scoreless yards. It looked eerily similar to his stat line from 2024, when Reagor made seven grabs for 138 scoreless yards as a member of the New England Patriots.

Reagor hasn’t made the strongest impact since leaving the Philadelphia Eagles. Beginning his career with the franchise, he caught 64 passes for 695 yards and three touchdowns over his two years with the team. His entire five-year NFL career has resulted in 86 receptions for 1,037 yards and four touchdowns.

The Dolphins clearly think that he can still make an impact. Reagor will have to earn his spot in training camp. But Miami’s depth chart is currently looking barren. Malik Washington, Tutu Atwell and Jalen Tolbert are in front of a litany of rookies.

Reagor won’t suddenly turn the Dolphins into world beaters over night. There’s no guarantee he would have a role in the offense let alone make the team. But now, he’ll at least have an opportunity. And a strong one at that based on Miami’s current roster.

The Dolphins are going to continue building their offense around Willis. They’ll hope that in 2026, Reagor can find a role.
