The Los Angeles Dodgers are adding yet another pitcher, the team announced on Sunday. This time, L.A. is making a trade with the team they faced in last year’s World Series.

“The Dodgers acquired LHP Eric Lauer from the Toronto Blue Jays for cash considerations. In order to make room on the 40-man roster, the Dodgers transferred RHP Brusdar Graterol to the 60-day injured list,” the team posted to X, formerly Twitter.

Lauer had been a key asset for Toronto in their 2025 journey to the Fall Classic. He worked in the bullpen when asked, and also started 15 regular season games. This season though was quite different for the pitcher.

“Lauer, who played a big part in the Blue Jays playoff run, was DFA’d by Toronto last week. Pitched 8 games, made 6 starts. Gives Dodgers some options with their pitching currently relatively thin,” Katie Woo reported for The Athletic.

The pitcher has just one victory during the 2026 season. His ERA is at 6.69. Lauer has allowed 27 runs in more than 36 innings of work.

The Dodgers are clearly hoping those numbers improve. Los Angeles is making a run this campaign to win their third consecutive World Series. The Dodgers rotation is already anchored by Shohei Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto, among others.

Los Angeles recently lost starter Blake Snell to injury. The loss of Snell could give Lauer a chance to make his mark in the rotation. Time will tell what the Dodgers decide to do with Lauer.

The Dodgers are facing the Los Angeles Angels on Sunday. Then the club is facing their division rival the San Diego Padres, in a key series. Both the Dodgers and Padres are battling tooth and nail for the National League West crown this season.

Los Angeles has won six of their last 10 games, heading into Sunday.
