Jamal Musiala collapses during game in scary scenes as Bayern Munich chief issues update

Jamal Musiala collapsed on the pitch during Bayern Munich’s game against RB Leipzig on Saturday in scary scenes.

The Germany international had to be caught by teammate Ismael Saibari as he began to look unsteady on his feet.

As the Telekom Cup Final clash moved towards the last five minutes, Musiala appeared to be struggling in the intense heat.

With temperatures soaring at 33 degrees Celsius, he began to look disorientated and wobbled as he stood on the pitch.

The worrying moment came after he scored Bayern’s third goal in their 3-1 win, as he waited for the game to restart.

While standing still, Musiala became unsteady and started falling in stages, with Saibari rushing over to help him out.

The Moroccan managed to get to him quickly and helped him lie down on the grass, with Joshua Kimmich rushing over too.

Bayern’s medical team then charged onto the pitch to provide some treatment as the 23-year-old concerningly lay still.

Fortunately, after a few minutes, the medical staff confirmed that Musiala was okay and nothing serious had occurred.

He was then clapped off the pitch after standing up and being helped to the touchline, and fans chanted his name.

What is the latest on Musiala?

Speaking post-match, Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer said: “It will become clear what it was. But of course we are keeping our fingers crossed.”

And thankfully, it has been confirmed that Musiala is okay after the incident, with sporting director Max Eberl providing an update.

Eberl said to the media in the mixed zone: “The most important thing, he’s doing well!”

It has also since been reported in Germany that Musiala complained of dizziness and circulatory problems due to the heat.

Initial examinations by Bayern have revealed nothing so far following the concerning moment.

Musiala is expected to rest and recover over the next few days.

But he will now be a doubt for the start of the season in Germany, with Bayern taking on Borussia Dortmund in the DFL Super Cup next weekend.

The Bundesliga champions then kickstart their league campaign against Stuttgart on Friday, August 28.
