Dodgers manager Dave Roberts reveals if Shohei Ohtani will DH during AZ pitching outing

The Los Angeles Dodgers are opening a four-game series with the Arizona Diamondbacks on Monday. On Wednesday, Shohei Ohtani is scheduled to pitch. Ohtani has struggled somewhat at the plate this year, which has resulted in him not being at DH when he pitches at points this year.

With Ohtani on the mound for this series, Dave Roberts is giving information on whether Ohtani will DH in the game, per Bob Nightengale of USA Today.

“Shohei Ohtani will be in the lineup as the DH once again when he starts on the mound Wednesday, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts says,” Nightengale posted on X, formerly Twitter.

Multiple times earlier in the season, Teoscar Hernandez has been in the DH spot, instead of Ohtani, when the two-way star is pitching. He has been great on the mound this year, with a 5-2 record and a 0.82 ERA. Further, he also has a 0.82 WHIPE and is on pace for his best pitching season ever.

At the plate, he has not been as dominant. Ohtani is hitting just .290, just below his career average. He also has just ten home runs, but does have 31 RBI. Still, his .894 OPS would be on the worst of his career. Still, he has been much better as of late. Ohtani has hits in five of his last six games, with two home runs and two RBIs in that span.

The Dodgers are 38-21 on the season, which places them in first place in the NL West. They have been playing solid baseball, winning nine of their last 11 games. The Dodgers open their series on the road against the Diamondbacks on Monday night.
