Dodgers bullpen extends insane scoreless streak in win over Brewers

The Los Angeles Dodgers started Sunday hearing their name attached to pitcher Tarik Skubal trade chatter. LA’s bullpen creates the picture the Detroit Tigers star isn’t sorely needed, though. Simply because the Dodgers’ mound lineup extended a notable streak in Sunday’s win over the Milwaukee Brewers.

Los Angeles produced an astonishing 38 straight scoreless innings before settling on the 5-1 road win. Yet LA needed to overcome an early Milwaukee lead.

Sal Frelick smacked a ground ball that became a fielder’s choice toward second base. Frelick drove one runner in while facing Yoshinobu Yamamoto. The 2025 World Series Most Valuable Player ended the second with a forced ground out at second.

Yamamoto then kept the Brewers in check from there. He forced a line out toward right field and then struck out one to close the bottom of the third. The two-time World Series winner didn’t deliver any strikes in the bottom of the fourth, but forced two ground outs and a line out.

Manager Dave Roberts kept his top ace on the hill until the seventh inning. Yamamoto finished with three strikeouts while surrendering seven hits but allowed only one run total. Will Klein relieved him after the seventh inning stretch, fanning two Milwaukee batters.

Tanner Scott closed things out for the Dodgers. Scott also struck out two Brewers to seal the four-run victory.

But the 38-inning scoreless comes with history on the Dodgers’ side. The streak rises as the longest run by a bullpen since the 2017 Cleveland Guardians. LA is now 33-20 overall.
