Orioles’ Pete Alonso breaks down his Maryland-themed Players Weekend bat
Baltimore Orioles power-hitting first baseman Pete Alonso is bringing a special Maryland flair to Players Weekend.
The Orioles recently showed off Alonso’s custom bat on social media. The bat’s design takes inspiration from Maryland and the Eastern Shore. Alonso talked about what inspired the bat, pointing out its ties to Maryland’s Eastern Shore. The custom design lets him show pride in his new home and adds a local touch to this special MLB weekend.
“Yeah, so my bat for this, for the Players Weekend, it’s Eastern Shore-themed. The most important thing in Maryland is Maryland Blue Crabs, that’s featured on the bat. And then we have nautical, nautical themed from the Eastern Shore,” Alonso said. “Got some lighthouses right, we got a lighthouse right here. So basically, it’s a taste of Maryland, taste of Baltimore, because you can’t think of Baltimore without Blue Crabs.”

Players Weekend lets MLB players showcase their personalities, backgrounds, and interests through custom gear and creative details. For Alonso, the Maryland-themed bat is another way to connect with Orioles fans and become part of the local community.
Alonso’s new bat comes as he keeps making a difference for Baltimore. He recently hit his 30th home run of the season in a 5-3 win over the Tampa Bay Rays, ending the Orioles’ four-game losing streak. He also stretched his hitting streak to 13 games in that game.
Alonso’s strong performance has made him a key player for Baltimore, and his Players Weekend bat helps him connect even more with the Orioles.
The Maryland-themed design fits well, given the state’s unique identity and the Eastern Shore’s ties to the Chesapeake Bay. The crab image really stands out and gives the bat a strong local vibe. For Orioles fans, it’s a fun mix of baseball, personality, and Maryland pride. Alonso’s custom bat will likely be one of the most memorable pieces of gear during Players Weekend and will show how he’s settling into his new home in Baltimore.
