Cubs’ Pete Crow-Armstrong caps off crazy 9th-inning comeback with walk-off hit
Trailing 6-1 in the seventh inning and in serious danger of falling into a tie with the Cincinnati Reds for last place in the National League Central, the Chicago Cubs rattled off what fans hope is a season-rejuvenating rally. The North Siders cut into the deficit in the eighth inning via an Ian Happ home run and then tacked on four more runs in the final frame, earning a 7-6 walk-off victory versus the Athletics.
Pete Crow-Armstrong clinched the gutsy comeback with a base hit that dropped in the outfield, Dansby Swanson tied the score minutes earlier with a single of his own and the Cubbies notched four consecutive two-out knocks to erase a three-run hole in the ninth inning. Crow-Armstrong also launched a 383-foot home run and now has a 10-game hitting streak. Perhaps his resurgence can mirror that of the team.

Happ led the way with three RBIs, Chicago accumulated 11 total hits and relief pitchers Trent Thornton and Ryan Rolison held things together after Shota Imanaga’s blow-up. Add everything up, and the Cubs grab an exhilarating, desperately-needed and series-salvaging win in Wrigley Field.
