Cowboys still trying to fill Micah Parsons hole with ex-Raiders edge rusher
The Dallas Cowboys have had a busy offseason as they look to revamp their defense following a disastrous 2026 season on that side of the ball. The Cowboys selected Caleb Downs with one of their two first round draft picks this year out of Ohio State, but the pass rush is still another area that needs work heading into next season.
On Thursday, the team made another move to try to help address that department.
“Sources: The #Cowboys are signing former #Raiders DE Charles Snowden. Over the last two seasons, Snowden started 18 games for Las Vegas — recording 4.5 sacks and 8 tackles for loss,” reported NFL insider Jordan Schultz on X, formerly Twitter.
Snowden is a solid veteran who should add some good depth to the Cowboys’ front seven, even as health has been somewhat of a concern during his Raiders tenure.
Of course, the Cowboys had a gaping hole open up on their defensive line when the team opted to trade Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers prior to last season. Jerry Jones and company tried to address this by trading for Quinnen Williams from the New York Jets at the trade deadline last year, but that wasn’t nearly enough to get Dallas anywhere close to good on defense.
Making that an even tougher pill to swallow was the fact that the Cowboys’ offense had an elite year last season, led by MVP-caliber production from Dak Prescott. This season, the Cowboys will hope that the defense levels up to its previous strong heights while the offense remains the same.
In any case, the Cowboys are slated to kick off their season on September 13 vs the divisional rival New York Giants.
